Questions we hear first

Do I need a referral?

In North Carolina you can start physical therapy without a referral. Your plan may still ask for one, and we tell you before your first visit. If what we find needs a doctor or midwife first, we say so.

Does my plan cover this, and do you take Medicare?

We bill many kinds of plans, including most PPO plans, marketplace plans, Medicaid and Medicare. Your plan decides what it pays. We check your benefits and call you before your first visit.

What if I pay myself?

We give you a written estimate before your first visit, and you pay on the day. If your plan may reimburse you, we give you a detailed receipt to send in. Your plan decides whether it pays.

How long is a visit, and who treats me?

A first visit is about an hour with a physical therapist. Later visits are usually shorter, and your therapist tells you how long yours will be. You can ask for Ayse, Nohemi or Yen by name.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what you are working on, how your body responds and how often you can practice at home. After your first visit your therapist explains what decides it, and you can change the plan at any point.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear clothes you can move in, like leggings and a loose top. Bring your questions, your insurance card if you have one, and anything your doctor or midwife gave you. Bring the baby, and whatever you need to feed or change them.

Will it hurt?

We work within what you can tolerate and tell you what we are doing before we do it. You can ask us to slow down or stop at any point.

Do you offer video visits?

Yes. We see you by video when you are in a state where we are licensed: North Carolina, and Virginia with Ayse. Some parts of care are better done in the clinic, and your therapist tells you which.

Do you treat injuries from work or a car crash?

Yes, for what we treat. If you were hurt in a crash or at work, get emergency care first. Tell us who your adjuster is. Your state decides who may direct your care.

When can I start after the birth?

Ask your doctor or midwife when it is fine to start exercise. Many people come for a first visit earlier, to talk and plan, and begin exercises when they are cleared. We follow what your birth team says.
